Your vault lives in a local folder you choose. Documents are Markdown files, with a local database for indexing. You can back up the vault yourself. When you use AI, relevant content is sent to your selected model provider.
Configure a compatible model provider and your own API key. Your API key is stored locally and sent only to your chosen AI provider to authenticate requests, not to the Fluid Wiki licensing service. Your provider charges for model usage, and online models require an internet connection. Semantic search also requires an embedding model.
You can read and edit local notes without an online model. Online AI, web search, and downloads require a connection. Local storage does not mean online AI requests stay on your device.
Fluid Wiki is available for Windows x64 through Microsoft Store or a direct installer download. A macOS download is not available yet.
